Srinagar, Nov 11: Advocate Showkat Mir, the newly nominated provincial president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), assumed his office on Monday at the party headquarters here with a rousing welcome.
On the occasion, the party functionaries from the youth and parent body felicitated him on assuming new responsibility. A meeting was held at the party headquarters, where senior leaders and MLAs including senior leader Shareef-U-din Shariq, MLAs Dr Shafi Wani, Dr Sajad Shafi, Salman Ali Sagar, Ahsan Pardesi, party’s state spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar and provincial president women’s wing Er Sabiya Qadri extended warm greetings to Mir, recalling his significant contributions to strengthening the party, the NC said in a statement issued here.
The functionaries expressed hope that Mir’s longstanding experience in public life, legal services and administration will benefit the party.
Interacting with the party functionaries, Adv Mir expressed his gratitude to the JKNC leadership for entrusting him with this new responsibility. He reaffirmed his commitment to working for the welfare of the people and further strengthening the party at all levels.
