Srinagar, Jul 03: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and contesting candidate from Rafiabad, Altaf Malik, has strongly criticised the National Conference-led government for its “failure” to address the pressing issues faced by the public, particularly regarding irrigation and drinking water shortages in Rafiabad, Zaingare, and other areas.
Malik, in a statement, said that most irrigation canals are dry, lift schemes are non-functional, and pump stations are not operating smoothly. As a result, thousands of kanals of paddy land are drying up and burning due to the government’s apathetic approach, he said.
The PDP leader accused the NC-led administration of miserably failing to solve the problems confronting common people. He highlighted widespread concerns across the valley over the unavailability of basic amenities, rising prices of essential commodities, and soaring power bills that many poor and marginalised families are unable to pay.
Altaf said the PDP remains committed to raising public issues inside and outside the assembly and vowed to fight vigorously for the rights of the people.
