Chadoora, Jun 27: Minister for Higher Education, Health, and Social Welfare, Sakeena Masood Itoo, on Friday said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has lost its relevance in Jammu and Kashmir and is now resorting to “baseless” criticism.
Itoo made these remarks during her visit to Chadoora in Budgam district, where she inaugurated the construction of a new degree college worth Rs 1.2 crore.
Responding to PDP’s criticism of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent remarks on statehood, the minister said, “The PDP has failed the people of Jammu and Kashmir and has been widely rejected. They are now playing dirty politics to divert attention from their failures.”
She added, “Chief Minister Omar Abdullah remains committed to the welfare and development of the people of J&K, a fact that PDP is well aware of, but chooses to ignore for political gain.”
The minister was accompanied by Chadoora MLA, Ali Mohammad Dar and senior district officers during the visit. The new degree college is expected to significantly boost higher education infrastructure in the region.
