Srinagar, Oct 16: On Breast Cancer Awareness Day, medical experts from Paras Health Srinagar emphasized the life-saving importance of early breast cancer detection. With breast cancer accounting for 22.2% of all female cancers in India in 2022, the hospital’s oncologists stressed that timely diagnosis is crucial in combating the rising number of cases in Srinagar and beyond.

The Paras Cancer Centre has become a leading force in cancer care across the region. From September 2023 to August 2024, the hospital treated 1,608 cancer patients, performed 305 surgeries, and provided chemotherapy for 975 patients. Dr. Gautam Das, Zonal Director of Paras Health Srinagar, highlighted the role of advanced technology in breast cancer treatment, stating, “Early detection is our best weapon. With self-examination and access to our advanced diagnostic tools, we can offer precise diagnoses and personalized treatments.”

The hospital’s use of state-of-the-art diagnostics, including ultrasound and MRI, allows detection of breast cancer even before symptoms appear. This early intervention significantly boosts the chances of recovery, according to the experts.

Dr. Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Surgical Oncologist, emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach: “Breast cancer can be overwhelming, but early detection, combined with a robust treatment plan, offers the best chance for recovery.”

Paras Health offers comprehensive cancer care, including surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and immunotherapy, with screening tests available at just Rs 999. As cases rise, Paras Health urges women to prioritize regular screenings and self-examinations.a
