Srinagar, April 02: Amid the holy month of Ramadan, over a thousand devout Muslims have gathered at Darul Uloom Raheemiyah in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district to observe Aitkaaf, a spiritual retreat marked by seclusion and devotion.
The seminary, Darul Uloom Raheemiyah, has become a beacon of spirituality during Ramadan, attracting worshippers from far and wide to partake in the age-old tradition of Aitkaaf. As participants immerse themselves in prayer, reflection, and Quranic study, the atmosphere is charged with piety and reverence.
The incharge at Darul Uloom Raheemiyah, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to the Aitkaaf program, stating that it’s heartening to see such a large number of people dedicating themselves to worship and spiritual growth during Ramadan.
He said that although the number of people performing Itikaf is limited compared to previous years, the spiritual atmosphere remains the same. Usually, around 1000 people are served a simple Iftar, consisting of two dates and a slice of fruit at times. However, during important nights like Shab-e Qadr, the number doubles.
The seminary has organized arrangements to provide food and amenities for the participants throughout their stay. Local volunteers and philanthropists have come forward to support this noble cause, ensuring that those observing Aitkaaf are well-fed and comfortable during their spiritual journey.
The tradition of locals assisting with serving Iftar (breaking the fast) and Sehri (pre-dawn meals) has been upheld for many years.
Speaking about the importance of service during Ramadan, a volunteer involved in distributing food said that it’s a privilege to serve brothers during this blessed month. Providing nourishment to those engaged in worship is a way to seek blessings and express gratitude for the opportunity to serve them, he said.
Dar-ul-Uloom Raheemiya, once a modest Maktab, is now on its way to becoming a full-fledged Islamic University on the pattern of Darul Uloom Deoband.
The vision includes three main wings: Hadees college (dedicated to the sayings of Prophet Muhammad), Tafseer college (interpreting the Quran), and Fiqah college (Jurisprudence). The institution will offer hostel facilities for one thousand students, a spacious mosque, family quarters while a fully equipped library has been completed.
