Srinagar, Mar 02: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Saturday said they are expecting over one lakh people to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Bakshi Stadium on March 07.
BJP’s Jammu & Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur told Rising Kashmir that over one lakh people are expected to attend the rally. “We are finalising our preparations and arrangements for the mega event,” he said.
Thakur said that on Saturday, BJP’s Kashmir division in-charge Sunil Sharma chaired a meeting of district presidents here. “Discussions revolved around the attendance figures for this gathering, ensuring people from various areas could participate and party leaders were asked to mobilise people,” he said.
“It will be a mega rally and people from various parts of Jammu & Kashmir will attend. People will come in droves and flood the venue to listen to PM Modi,” Altaf said, adding that on March 04, the party’s General Secretary and J&K In-charge Tarun Chugh would review the party’s preparations for the rally.
The spokesperson said there is excitement among people in Kashmir, where BJP was once unpopular. Now, everyone, including the poor, women, and the elderly trusts Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thakur added.
Meanwhile, according to party sources, this rally will mark the commencement of election campaigning for the BJP in Jammu & Kashmir for 2024. They said preparations are underway, with attendees expected from all corners of Kashmir.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to announce various developmental projects and interact with beneficiaries of national schemes and programs in the valley.
Earlier, PM Modi visited Jammu on February 20, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for developmental projects worth Rs 32,000 crores, including the extension of railway services and the inauguration of AIIMS in Vijaypur.
