Jammu, Aug 17: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Thursday accused the BJP of being insensitive towards the problems of the youth.
“There is resentment among the people and the youth are angry. This is because the attitude of the BJP towards the problems of the youth is insensitive. Now, no one believes in the hollow claims made to the youth about providing jobs,” he said while speaking at a felicitation programme here.
Bhalla highlighted “rising inflation, high unemployment, suppression of democracy, failure to safeguard national security, hate politics, historic fall of the rupee, economic collapse and erosion of social fabric”.
He urged the Union government to hold assembly elections in J&K without further delay. “Selecting their own representatives to serve in the government is a fundamental democratic right that must not be denied to the people. We have faith in the democratic values of our country, and we aspire to the same rights that are enjoyed by people in other regions of the country,” he said.
The former minister promised that if Congress is elected to form the government, it will undertake a series of initiatives to ensure social justice and economic benefits for the people. “We have a vision and a roadmap to ensure the economic empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I assure you that we will ensure impartial development of all regions and prosperity for all citizens, regardless of their regional, religious, or political affiliations,” he said.
He added, “The litmus test for a democracy is if the policy decisions are made through democratic procedure and have popular support. Unfortunately, the current administration’s decisions lack both. It is sad to see difficult orders successively being passed. Such directives should come up only after proper deliberations and discussion, and while keeping the public sentiments in view. I would suggest that such decisions should be kept for an elected government to take.”
