Ganderbal, Sept 08: Zamir Abdullah, son of National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Sunday spoke about the Abdullah family’s deep-rooted connection with Ganderbal, a region central to their political journey.
Speaking to media in Ganderbal, Zamir said that the family’s association with the constituency dates back to his great-grandfather, Sheikh Abdullah, also known as “Sher-e-Kashmir,” who began his political career from Ganderbal.
He also highlighted the contributions of his great-grandmother, Begum Akbar Jehan, fondly known as “Madar-e-Meharban,” who represented the region as a Member of Parliament. Pertinent to mention here, both his grandfather and father, Omar Abdullah, have served as MLAs from Ganderbal, solidifying the family’s longstanding ties to the area.
Zamir added that his father, Omar Abdullah, would be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections from Ganderbal once again, expressing confidence in his victory. He emphasized the importance of connecting with every household in the constituency and delivering the party’s manifesto, a task he has personally undertaken.
Meanwhile both the sons of Omar Abdullah have been actively involved in the campaign, attending meetings and mobilizing support across the constituency.
Our sole purpose is to bring our manifesto to every household: Zamir Abdullah
