Samba, Apr 24: Former minister Yashpal Kundal on Monday said the way youth are getting trapped in the quagmire of drugs these days, society needs to take collective measures to tackle the menace.
He said sports can keep youth away from drugs and urged the for a need to engage youth in sports activities.
While participating in a volleyball tournament in Samba, Kundal said different types of tournaments organized by various sports clubs and religious organizations are proving beneficial. “If the attention of the youth is towards sports, then they cannot even think of taking drugs”.
Encouraging the players of both the teams in the final of the tournament, Yashpal Kundal alerted the youth about the harm caused by drugs and told that drugs are the root of all evils. He said the drug addicts indulge in crimes and if they do not get drugs, due to which along with the society, the reputation of the family also gets destroyed
Speaking on the occasion, Kundal enjoined upon the youth to get associated with the sports activities regularly as it was vital for their mental and physical development.
He said sports activities are pivotal for channelising the energy of youth in a positive direction besides keeping them physically and mentally fit”, he added.
Kundal told the youth to stay away from drugs and pay attention to sports and make their important contribution in building a healthy society with a healthy nation. The youth present there took a vow not to take drugs and to save others from drugs.
