Srinagar, Jun 02: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Shalteng, Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday said only the Congress Party under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership can solve political, economic and constitutional problems by showing the way forward.
Talking to reporters here, Karra said the delegations being sent abroad by the BJP government are a distraction, meant to shift focus from the hard questions being asked in India. “The Congress Party, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, can show the way forward,” he added.
Reacting to PM Modi’s upcoming J&K visit, the JKPCC Chief termed it “merely a ribbon-cutting ceremony” to claim credit. “All the development projects they are now inaugurating were started during the Congress-led UPA government. They’re just cutting ribbons now,” he said.
Karra also questioned how terrorists managed to reach Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley despite high security. He raised concerns about how such a big security lapse could happen and demanded answers on what the government did with the intelligence they had days before the attack.
The J&K Congress president said the government’s foreign policy after a ceasefire with Pakistan was announced following a tweet from the US President Donald Trump. “Has India surrendered its ‘no third-party intervention’ policy?” he asked, referring to the Simla Agreement.
He added, “Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s statement that India had informed Pakistan in advance about where the strikes would take place. Is this not treason? Why hasn’t he resigned yet?”
