Kupwara, Feb 04: The New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) in Shatpora area of Kupwara is facing acute shortage of staff giving a tough time to the patients and the locals visiting the hospital.
Locals in the area revealed that NTPHC Shartpora is functioning without medical officers, senior pharmacist and other staff members fetching hardships for the people.
Hafeezulla Khan, a local resident told Rising Kashmir that NTPHC Shartpora was functioning smoothly over the few years with a dedicated doctor and a bustling OPD. However, since the doctor left, no replacement has been stationed here.
Locals refute the official claims of the new doctor being assigned to the hospital for three days.
Muzamil Lone, a local resident, said that due to staff shortages and the absence of a daily on-site doctor ,they are now compelled to visit SDH Kupwara
According to an official order, Rafiq Ahmed Chard, nursing orderly, was directed to report at PHC Drugmulla. Locals question this order and seek explanation about the situation compelling his transfer amid a staff crisis.
Dr.Zafar Akbar ,BMO Kupwara acknowledged the shortage of staff and stated that every effort is being made to address the issue which has hit the patient care.“We are ensuring that patient care remains unaffected,” he said.
