Jammu, Apr 16: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President and candidate from the Jammu-Reasi Parliamentary seat, Raman Bhalla on Tuesday refuted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s assertions of a ‘Modi wave’ across the nation, labelling it as mere media hype.
Addressing an election gathering at Badyal Brahmana in RS Pura Jammu South constituency, organised by District Jammu Rural Working President Badrinath Sharma, Bhalla criticized BJP’s developmental claims during election rallies.
Asserting his stance, Bhalla said, “For the past year, we’ve heard about a Modi wave sweeping the country, but I see no evidence of it anywhere. Instead, what I see is a wave of discontent among the people.” He emphasized the voters’ desire for change, highlighting their inclination towards Congress for honest politics and systemic reforms. “People are disillusioned with the current regime and are determined to bring Congress back into power,” he added.
The Congress leader also criticized BJP’s policy failures, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of neglecting the welfare of the people and downgrading the state to a Union Territory. He urged voters to reject the “anti-people, anti-youth, anti-student, anti-farmer” policies of the current government and emphasized the importance of unity and communal harmony.
Highlighting the plight of the people in Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla pointed out issues such as unemployment, inflation, and inadequate support for essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged the local leadership to prepare for the upcoming polls and called for the isolation of parties indulging in divisive politics for electoral gains.
The JKPCC leader also criticized the BJP’s handling of key issues such as the refugees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), unemployment, and rising inflation. He accused the BJP government of favouring the rich while neglecting the needs of the common people. “Democracy is in decline under the BJP’s rule, but the Congress party remains committed to fighting for truth and justice,” he said.
