Jammu, Mar 09: Apni Party’s Senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Sunday criticised the recently passed budget, saying it makes no direct mention of critical issues such as rising unemployment and inflation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our youth are disappointed, as it offers no clarity on employment opportunities. If the youth are dissatisfied, how can we call it a good budget?” Mir said while speaking to reporters after a party event in Vijaypur, Samba district, Jammu. The event was held to mark the party’s foundation anniversary.
Replying to a question about recently passed J&K Budget, Mir expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, “Ours is an agricultural economy, and the government has raised diesel prices, which means it will affect everything here despite the fact that people are already suffering due to rising inflation. We were expecting significant measures to address unemployment and reduce inflation, but this budget is disappointing.”
The Apni Party leader urged the government to fulfil its promise to revisit the existing mining policy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “The current mining policy introduced by the LG administration is completely anti-people and has led to a hike in the prices of mining materials. The ruling party has promised to people that its government will revisit this policy to protect the rights of local people and those who have been involved in mining for years. The government must fulfil its promise.”
During the event, Mir extended his gratitude to his party leaders and workers for their “dedication and resilience” they showed since the establishment of the party on March 8, 2020.
Apni Party will continue to pursue its agenda and policies for peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir and for the political and economic empowerment of the people, he added.
