No entry without aprons, i-cards: GMC Sgr to staff

Non-compliance to face disciplinary action under norms

Srinagar, Nov 06: Government Medical College Srinagar has issued a directive asking its staff to enter hospital premises with aprons, identity cards and proper dress code.
The move comes after it was observed that Faculty Members, Medical Superintendents, Medical Officers of the medical college were not wearing aprons and not carrying proper identity cards while on duty/routine rounds.
Besides, this paramedical staff and other non-gazetted staff including MTS and sanitary workers were also not following proper dress code as already envisaged in directions issued by the college authorities.
The GMC Srinagar has issued a circular which mentions that aprons, ID cards and proper dress code serve as a means of identification and a security measure to ensure the safety of hospital staff, patients and prevent any private person to roam in hospital premises.
“It is therefore impressed upon all Heads of Departments, Medical Superintendents, Controlling Officers to ensure that all Faculty Members, Medical Officer, Para-Medical Staff, other non-gazetted staff working in their hospitals, departments, sections shall abide by the directions in letter and spirit to avoid any untoward situation in the hospital/departments,” the circular said.
It said that Head of Departments, Medical Superintendents, Controlling Officers shall allow only those officers, officials to enter in the hospital premises who are wearing aprons, identity cards and proper dress code. “Any violation in this regard will be viewed seriously and shall call for disciplinary action under norms,” it added.
