Srinagar, Mar 29: National Conference (NC) leaders including MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq and MLA Hazratbal Salman Sagar, along with Director SKIMS Dr Ashraf Ganie, HODs, senior doctors, and faculty kick-started a plantation drive at SKIMS Soura on Saturday.
The initiative is aimed at transforming the campus into a lush green oasis and promoting sustainability, the party said in a statement issued here.
During the event, the MLAs emphasised the importance of planting trees for a healthier environment and the well-being of the public. “Trees provide clean air, food, and shelter, while also playing a crucial role in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity,” they said.
Sadiq and Sagar highlighted the significance of planting native trees, saying they are more resilient to local pests and diseases, thus reducing the need for harmful pesticides and other interventions.
