Srinagar, Jun 05: National Conference (NC) State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar on Thursday expressed deep concern over the mysterious death of a Kashmiri youth, Zubair Ahmed Bhat, in Delhi.
In a statement issued here, Dar urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene personally and ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the incident. He called for a thorough and impartial inquiry to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Bhat’s death.
“The family of the deceased deserves answers, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that justice is served,” Imran said. He expressed hope that the bereaved family would receive the support and closure they need during this difficult time.
The NC spokesperson highlighted the broader implications of such incidents. “This is not just a personal tragedy for the family but a matter of concern for all of us. We must ensure that such incidents are thoroughly investigated and that those responsible are held accountable,” he added.

MLA Shameema visits Zubair’s family; promises justice, support
National Conference (NC) State Women’s Wing president and Member of Legislative (MLA), Habbakadal, Shameema Firdous on Thursday visited the bereaved family of Zubair Ahmad Bhat at Sehyar Ali Kadal, Srinagar. Bhat tragically lost his life in New Delhi under alleged physical assault.
Extending deep condolences, Firdous expressed solidarity with the grieving family and assured them that justice would be pursued. She said the NC Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already raised the issue with law enforcement authorities, demanding a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure accountability.
Following the condolence visit, Firdous toured various areas of the Habbakadal constituency affected by recent gusty winds and heavy downpours. She interacted with families whose homes were damaged, assessing the ground situation personally.
Promising swift action, the MLA assured the affected residents of full support from her office and pledged to take up the matter with the relevant departments to ensure timely compensation and rehabilitation.
“Our people must not feel alone in times of tragedy or distress,” she said. “Whether it’s the loss of a loved one or damage to homes, we will stand with them every step of the way.”
