Jammu, Nov 09: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Akhnoor, Mohan Lal returned to his constituency on Saturday to a grand and jubilant reception following the conclusion of the first session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Hundreds of BJP supporters gathered at the old bridge in Akhnoor to welcome him with floral garlands, drumbeats and loud cheers. They chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Mohan Lal Zindabad”.
“The people of Akhnoor showed their unwavering support for Mohan Lal, who had been a vocal advocate for the abolition of Articles 370 and 35A during the Assembly session,” a statement issued by the MLA reads.
In his address to the crowd, Mohan Lal praised the people of Akhnoor for their continued trust and support. He highlighted his firm stance against the restoration of Article 370 and criticised the National Conference’s recent proposal demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
“The National Conference is trying to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir with their false promises,” Lal said. “Their attempt to destabilise the peace in our region will not be tolerated.”
The BJP leader said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Article 370 had been permanently abolished, and it would never be restored. “Some leaders in Kashmir are deceiving their own people. We will not allow such divisive politics to undo the progress we’ve made,” he added.
The MLA also expressed disappointment over the treatment of BJP legislators in the Assembly, particularly the actions of the Speaker and the marshals, calling out the “unfair treatment” and “partisan behaviour”.
