Ganderbal, Oct 25: The two-day National Conference on “Indian Ethos in English Writings (IEEW2024)” organized by the Department of English, School of Languages at Central University of Kashmir (CUK) concluded on Friday.
The event, conducted in a hybrid format, showcased engaging paper presentations, dynamic discussions, and insightful plenary talks by Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Jammu, and Prof. Nibedita Mukerji from Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, West Bengal.
The conference included 54 paper presentations across three parallel technical sessions, each chaired by professors from various Indian universities. Session chairs praised the quality of the papers and the meaningful post-presentation interactions.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session, attended by Prof. Shugufta Shaheen of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. Prof. Sandhya Tiwari, the conference chair, presented the event’s outcomes, emphasizing the intersections of Indian ethos in English literature and highlighting contributions by authors like E.M. Forster and T.S. Eliot. The conference also underscored the need for continued research in light of NEP2020’s new academic dimensions.
Key outcomes included a proposal for an edited compilation of the conference papers and an assurance of collaboration in academic and research activities by Prof. Shugufta Shaheen. Plans for future research collaborations were also discussed, with Prof. Sandhya Tiwari extending gratitude to participants, speakers, and organizers, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Ishrat Bashir delivering the vote of thanks.
