Srinagar, Oct 25: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), organized an orientation and Ad-Mad activity at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday. The event, aimed at promoting awareness of national standards, saw participation from students across departments who presented posters and skits on the significance of prosduct quality and hallmarking.
Raj Kumar, Assistant Director of BIS JKBO, addressed the gathering, explaining the pivotal role of BIS in ensuring product quality through hallmarking and standards. He introduced students to the BIS Care App, highlighting its utility in verifying standards and encouraging students to choose certified products for their homes.
The event also featured remarks from the Registrar and senior officials of NIT Srinagar, who underscored the importance of standards in academic and industrial spheres. Mentors Dr. Iqra and Dr. Pankaj contributed their perspectives on the real-world implications of standards, further enriching the discourse.
Raj Kumar, along with Key Resource Person Mehak Rasool, evaluated the students’ Ad-Mad posters and skits, applauding their creativity and commitment to spreading awareness on the essential role of standards in everyday life.
