Srinagar, June 13: The School Education Department (SED) of Jammu and Kashmir union territory has issued a directive mandating that morning assemblies in all educational institutions commence with the National Anthem, effective immediately.
In an official circular issued by Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of SED, it was emphasized that the practice of starting the school day with morning assemblies plays a crucial role in fostering unity and discipline among students. The circular noted that this tradition also serves as a platform to promote moral values, community spirit, and mental well-being among students.
Acknowledging variations in the implementation of morning assemblies across schools, the circular outlined specific guidelines to ensure consistency which included morning assemblies are to be held for 20 minutes, with all students and teachers gathering at the designated area at the beginning of the school day and the assembly should commence with the National Anthem, adhering to standard protocol.
As part of enhancing leadership and communication skills, three to four students or teachers are encouraged to deliver motivational or awareness talks daily, in line with the NEP-2020 requirements, it further added.
The circular underscored that adherence to these guidelines will not only nurture a sense of national pride but also contribute to a disciplined and cohesive school environment. It called upon teachers and students alike to uphold this responsibility diligently, aiming to enrich the educational experience with dignity and respect.
