Ganderbal, Aug 23: There was a narrow escape for a family after a decayed walnut tree fell upon their residential house in the Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Sajjad Ahmed Magray, the owner of the one-storey house at Gratkoli Satruna (A), said during the intervening night of August 20 and 21, the decayed walnut tree suddenly fell on his house, resulting in severe damage to the rooftop and a crack.
When the tree fell, the family was inside the house, he said adding that no one was injured in the incident.
Tehsildar Kangan Dr Haroon Rashid said the report has been prepared and will be submitted to the DC Office for relief to the family.
“The family may get some slight relief under the Red Cross as it does not fall within SDRF norms,” the tehsildar said.
