A Naib Tehsildar and two Junior engineers had a close call after a snow avalanche hit their vehicle in gurez valley of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday.
An official told Rising Kashmir that three officials were travelling in a car when a snow avalanche struck the area, but the trio made it out safely.
The official identified the trio as Naib Tehsildar of Tulail and two Junior engineers of Mechanical Engineering who were touring for some development projects. The vehicle got damaged and got trapped in debris, he said
Notably, according to Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Management, Authority, an avalanche with a medium danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres in the next 24 hours.
The general public has been advised to restrict movement to only carefully selected safer routes with extreme care and evacuate from unprotected settlements near the avalanche path, it added.
