Bandipora, June 21: In a major move aimed at addressing the increasing traffic congestion in the main town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, district administration Bandipora for the first time has sanctioned a three-storey parking project.

As per the details available with Rising Kashmir, the project, estimated to cost Rs 5 crores, has received the green light after a thorough consultation process involving various stakeholders.

While expressing his satisfaction with the finalization of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), which is expected to accommodate a total of 147 vehicles across multiple levels, Joint Director of Planning, Bandipora, Imtiyaz Ahmad said that this parking facility will play a crucial role in decongesting the town roads in a significant way.

“With the capacity to accommodate 147 cars, the project is set to provide much-needed relief to residents and visitors struggling with limited parking options in Bandipora”, Imtiyaz told Rising Kashmir.

He said that the construction of the parking facility will be carried out in two phases, with the initial phase consisting of three stories and the subsequent phase will include the addition of a fourth story, further increasing the parking capacity.

The ground floor will be able to house 38 vehicles, the first floor 39 vehicles, the second floor 35 vehicles, and the third floor 35 vehicles, ensuring a comprehensive solution to the parking woes faced by the people.

Meanwhile the news of the parking project has been met with enthusiasm and positivity from the locals, expressing their support for the initiative, highlighting the potential impact it will have on alleviating the growing traffic congestion in the town.

Advocate Mudasir Ahmad, a local said that this parking project is a much-needed step in the right direction which will not only ease traffic congestion but also boost business activity in the area.

Another local said that Bandipora has witnessed a rapid increase in vehicles, which has made parking a nightmare. The construction of a parking facility will definitely make a positive difference and improve the overall traffic situation in the town.
