Multi-lingual Mushaira held at GCW Udhampur

Udhampur, Feb 22: To develop literary interest among students as well as general masses, the Department of Urdu and Music under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur in collaboration with J&K
Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Jammu organised a multilingual Mushaira at the college campus here Saturday.
Secretary J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages Jammu, Harvinder Kour was the chief guest on the occasion. Renowned writer, poet, critic, scholar and Sahitya Academy Awardee, Parkash Premi presided over the multilingual Mushaira event. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Harvinder Kour appreciated the efforts of the college administration for organising such an interesting, informative and inspiring literary event. She congratulated the poets for being a part of such a big event and
presenting meaningful and entertaining poetic verses. She emphasised on the systematic approach of the Academy for preservation and promotion of regional languages.
Kaur highly praised the young poets of the district namely Naseem Akhtar, Mohinder Panchrvi and Yosuhika and said that the poems they recited were no less than the poems of any senior poet. She said that whatever the poet says comes from his heart and only then everyone likes it and touches their hearts. She called for organising such literary and cultural events in the near future too.
While speaking on the occasion, the principal of the college Dr. Nalini Pathania appreciated the efforts of the organisers for organising such a wonderful multilingual mushaira which would provide
a platform for sharing and exchanging diverse literary knowledge. Dr Pathania expressed her heartfelt gratitude to JKAACL for providing the students with an opportunity to develop their overall personality and said that they should organize more such activities in this college.
Renowned and prominent poets of the Udhampur district mainly include Parkash Premi, Abhishop Dubey , Dr. Adarsh Parkash, Kusum Antra, Jagdeep Dubey, Rekha Thakur, Col Balwant Singh, Bachiter Singh Veragi, Mohinder Kumar Pancharvi, Dr. Mool Raj, Anu Atri Yaad, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Prof. Shama Rani, Dr. Shabir Ahmad Dar, Naseem Akhter and Youshika Kumari presented their poetic verses touching all the aspects of society which was lauded by the audience.
The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages also organized a book exhibition in the college campus which displayed a large number of books published by the Academy in various languages. A special number of books published by the Academy in Dogri, Gojri, Punjabi and Urdu languages were displayed in the exhibition. A large number of book lovers, writers and college students were present on the occasion. About 275 students of the college participated. Refreshment was also served to the students by the organizers. presented a vote of thanks.
