Rajouri, Dec 05: The second edition of the ambitious “My Town My Pride” programme on Monday began with much fanfare across all the municipal areas of the Rajouri district. The first day of the two-day-long programme witnessed an enthusiastic and overwhelming response from the general public.
“My Town My Pride” is an initiative to strengthen urban local self-governance and to provide responsive, accountable and participatory governance to the people. The programme has three main objectives -public outreach in towns, strengthening grassroots democracy and providing service delivery at people’s doorsteps.
In the forenoon session, the visiting officers engaged with local residents at the ULBs allotted to them. Stalls displaying government schemes and programmes being implemented in the district were put up at the venues by the resource persons of different departments.
The Visiting Officers inspected stalls and interacted with the field functionaries of different departments. The people and their representatives highlighted a number of issues and demands of their areas during the programs.
The Visiting Officers after giving a patient hearing assured them that their genuine concerns would be redressed in a time-bound manner.
Later, in the afternoon session, the visiting officers inspected a number of government institutions including Banks, AWCs, schools, health institutions, etc. They also inspected a number of developmental works in the urban areas and asked the officers to work in a mission mode and make dedicated efforts to meet the expectations of the urban population.
Special Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, T.K Bhatt visited MC Rajouri, DG Floriculture Jammu, Jatinder Singh visited MC Kalakote, Director School Education Jammu, Ravi Shanker Sharma visited MC Thanamandi, Regional Director Survey and Land Records and Ex Officio Settlement Officer Rajouri, Ghulam Rasool visited MC Sunderbani and Principal Revenue Training Institute Jammu, Ashfaq Ahmed visited MC Nowshera.
The public has highly appreciated the My Town My My Town Pride program and appealed to the LG Administration to continue such programs in the near future also to meet their developmental aspirations.
