Pulwama, Feb 06: Residents of many far flung areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have praised district administration for running a mobile van for door to door delivery of online services.
Many residents in upper reaches of Rajpora and Aripal Tehsils of Pulwama accessed online services for first time for availing benefits of various government schemes after the mobile van was run by district administration to cater to their e-services needs.
The mobile van fitted with e -services equipment was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on 20 October, 2022 and since then it has moved to around 200 villages of the district, officials informed Rising Kashmir.
District manager common services centre( CSC) e- governance India limited for Pulwama, Sajad Ahmad, said that they helped more than 7000 residents to access various government schemes.
He said that though every village has been provided with the facility of a common service centre but it was noticed by DC Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Chaudhry, that there are certain areas where CSCs were out of reach of common people. The official said besides there are internet issues in areas falling in upper reaches of Pulwama like Sangerwani village.
“ The mobile van was started to cater to such areas where CSC’s are out of reach of people,” he said, adding that all equipment for providing e- services has been fitted in the vehicle.
Irshad Ahmad Allie, Data Entry Operator cum Driver of the mobile van, said that they provide e-services like birth and death certificates, domicile certificate, land passbook, PAN, Passport, Driving Licence, Golden card , E-Shram card and others.
The operator cum driver said that they inform their contacts before visiting a particular village.
“ The contact passes on the message of our visit to other villagers,” he said, adding that they make sure that all applications are filed.
“ We visit a village at around 8:00 am and return by late, sometimes around 11:00 pm,” he said.
He said besides catering to e-services of residents, they also create awareness about digital literacy.
“ The mobile van is proving very beneficial to residents in our village, especially to aged people,” Zulkarnain, a resident of Sangerwani village said, adding that it provides e -services to people at their door steps.
“The residents no longer have to travel to Pulwama or other areas for availing online services,” he said.
He added that the officials are also proving awareness about various government schemes.
