Srinagar, June 13: Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan, on Friday called on Javed Rana, Minister of Jal Shakti, Tribal Affairs, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Sakina Itoo, Minister of School Education, Higher Education, Health, Medical Education, and Social Welfare, in the Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
During the meeting with the Education Minister, the legislator raised the issue of overstaying lecturers/master grade teachers of Kathua district, who have been serving in hard zones of Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Reasi districts for the last 3 to 5 years. He urged the minister to kindly transfer the overstaying lecturers/master grade teachers to their home districts, as their aged parents and families are suffering.
In his meeting with Minister Javed Rana, the MLA raised the issue of water scarcity in the Kandi areas of Kathua district, as well as in the town of Kathua and Nagri. He urged the minister to sanction at least sixty deep borewells for Kathua constituency immediately to meet the requirement of safe drinking water. He also requested the allotment of one new water tanker to Kathua constituency to augment the drinking water supply.
Dr Bhushan further apprised Minister Rana about the urgent need to undertake repairs of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel in Kathua, and to construct additional classrooms and sanitary toilet complexes in High School Jarai, Primary School Maksaspur, and Primary School Chak Gota near Lakhanpur.
He urged the minister to construct one Forest Rest House each in or near the shrines of Maa Ama Bhai in Dilwan and Mata Jyi Shree in Dhanore, Lakhanpur, to promote pilgrim tourism in the district. Both ministers assured the MLA Kathua that these demands would be addressed on a priority basis.
