Udhampur, Dec 08: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA of Udhampur East, on Sunday hailed the Central government’s initiative to sanction 13 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a series of meetings in the Udhampur area, he highlighted the inclusion of remote areas like Pancheri, Ramkot, and Kakrial in the scheme, which would ensure quality education for children in these regions.
However, Pathania was equally vocal in his demand for the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas in Majalta, Ramnagar and Mantalai. “The district administration had already submitted detailed proposals to the concerned authorities for consideration,” he said, adding that children in these areas are often forced to rent accommodation in Udhampur and Chenani, just to have access to quality education in Kendriya Vidyalayas.
Such initiatives should be expedited to ensure children in these far-flung areas receive the same educational opportunities as those in more developed regions, he said.
In addition to his educational concerns, the MLA inaugurated the laying of Blacktopping (BT) on the Goal to Baley road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). He reiterated the importance of road connectivity in a developing nation, noting that improved roads directly contribute to better access to education, healthcare, Anganwadi centres and sports facilities.
Pathania said that development needs to be carried out systematically, ensuring timely delivery of essential infrastructure in rural areas. He voiced his concerns over the suspension of the drinking water supply in the area by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) authorities.
The BJP leader urged the authorities to immediately provide tanker services in regions where the water supply was disrupted, ensuring residents have access to clean drinking water.
The MLA was accompanied by local leaders, including Puran Chand, DDC Udhampur I; Subash Sharma, Mandal Pradhan; Madan Lal, former Sarpanch of Sounthan; and a host of other prominent local figures, including Abhinash, Virender Singh, Krishan Singh, Dina Nath, Samar Singh, Ashok Padha, Lalita Sharma, Sunita Rathore, and several others.
