Jammu, Jan 12: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Jasrota Rajiv Jasrotia on Sunday commemorated Martyr Rifleman Mangal Singh of the 15 JAK RIF, who lost his life on January 12, 2002, while bravely fighting in the Poonch sector.
During a tribute ceremony held on Sunday, prominent community members and villagers, including Capt Gian Singh Pathania, Capt Madan Lal, and several Sarpanchs, gathered to honor the martyr by garlanding his statue.
Jasrotia expressed deep respect for the sacrifices made by the Police, Army, and paramilitary personnel in preserving the peace and integrity of the nation. He highlighted the rich tradition of service in the armed forces among the people from the Kandi border belt and hilly areas of the Jammu division, noting their courage, nationalism, and dedication to the country. Emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices of martyrs, he extended gratitude to Mangal Singh’s family and assured them of any necessary support.
During his address, Jasrotia spoke about the social responsibility to remember and honor the sacrifices of soldiers, stating that these memories should serve as an inspiration for future generations. He regarded Mangal Singh as a role model for local youth, exemplifying honesty, dedication, and patriotism through his ultimate sacrifice.
He also underscored the imperative for the nation to remember its martyrs and war veterans, expressing pride in the contributions of the Dogras throughout various conflicts, including the wars of 1947, 1965, 1971, and the Kargil War, as well as the ongoing proxy war initiated by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked the war veterans present for their service, reinforcing that their heroism creates a sense of pride for the Dogra community and the people of the state.
Jasrotia exuded confidence that the sacrifices of these brave individuals would inspire young people to join the esteemed ranks of the Indian Army. He proclaimed that the stories of valor written by these heroes are etched in the annals of India’s military history and that honoring their legacy means contributing to the nation’s growth and ambition to become a “Vishwa Guru,” as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the tribute, Jasrotia took part in a Shoba Yatra celebrating the first anniversary of the Ram Lalla idol consecration ceremony in Ayodhya at Barwal. He noted the significant number of devotees participating in the religious events associated with the Ram Temple complex, sharing that those who couldn’t make it during the initial consecration in January 2024 were particularly fortunate to be part of the anniversary celebrations.
