Budgam, Nov 10: Dr Mohammad Shafi, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Beerwah constituency, announced on Sunday that approval has been granted for the establishment of a two-way road connectivity network during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The new road network will connect Magam to Beerwah, Beerwah to Doodhpathri, and further extend to Tosmaidan. The connectivity will also link to the Shopian district, facilitating smoother transportation in the region.
Dr Shafi visited the villages of Budran and Arwah in the Beerwah constituency, where locals raised their concerns and issues related to long-pending village-level development. He assured the residents that their basic needs would be addressed on a priority basis.
Speaking to reporters here, MLA Beerwah said the National Conference successfully passed a resolution for the restoration of Article 370 in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. He said the party, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, remains committed to fighting for the rights of the people, particularly in light of the changes imposed by the Government of India on August 05, 2019.
“If we look closely, this is the first time such a resolution has been passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly,” Dr Shafi said.
The MLA also discussed the challenges faced by Beerwah tehsil, one of the oldest tehsils in the Kashmir Valley, where many government department posts remain vacant. He assured the public that filling these vacancies, along with the construction of a Bailey bridge in Beerwah, would be treated as top priorities. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Beerwah bridge has already been prepared under the NABARD Project, he added.
“The approval for the two-way road connectivity is a major step forward. It will improve accessibility from Magam to Beerwah, from Beerwah to Doodhpathri, and onwards to Tosmaidan, with a connection to Shopian district as well,” Dr Wani said.
The MLA also touched on the hopes and expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who he said have placed their trust in the National Conference party. The party’s commitment to the welfare of the region would continue to guide its policies and actions, he said.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have a lot of expectations from our party. They voted for us in the elections because they know we will work for their benefit and welfare,” Dr Shafi added.
