Jammu, Apr 11: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has appointed Mian Altaf Ahmad, Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Rajouri-Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency, as a member of the Union Territory Hajj Committee. The decision was announced on Friday.
The appointment was formalized under Sections 17(1) and 18(1) of the Hajj Committee Act, 2002, and Rule 20 of the Haj Committee Rules, 2002. According to the government order, Ahmad’s tenure will coincide with the term of existing committee members appointed via notification S.O. dated July 20, 2022, ensuring continuity in the panel’s functioning.
Mian Altaf Ahmad, a prominent political figure in the region, brings extensive experience to the role. The Hajj Committee facilitates pilgrimage-related arrangements for Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the significance of robust leadership.
