Samba, July 28: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister, S. Manjit Singh on Sunday expressed displeasure over the deteriorated condition of road infrastructure and basic amenities in Bari Brahmana tehsil of Samba district.
As per a press release, Singh along with the Scheduled Tribe President of the party, Saleem Alam toured various areas in Bari Brahmana. During their tour, they met the different segments of society in which they saw the deteriorated condition of roads, lanes, drains, unprecedented power cuts, and irregular drinking water supply.
In his address, the former minister condemned the authorities for their inability to ensure the basic amenities to the residents of Bari Brahmana and alleged that the people are being deprived of their basic rights even after imposing high taxes/excessive electricity bills.
“The people are paying the charges for every service being offered by the departments in J&K government. However, they are not being provided with the basic amenities, adequate electricity supply, not even the clean drinking water,” he said.
Manjit said the people have been left without public representatives as the term of elected institutions has expired, and the assembly elections have not been conducted in Jammu and Kashmir since the imposition of Lt Governor’s rule.
“The people are ready to teach them a lesson in the proposed assembly elections. In all these years, the people were pushed to the wall as the administration worked as per their own wishes without the consultation of the public representatives,” he added.
The Apni party leader said the condition of roads, lanes, and drains showcases the non-serious approach of the authorities towards the poor attention of the people towards the public welfare and development at the ground level.
He cautioned the government that if they continue to support the anti-people agenda and promote the outsiders in Jammu and Kashmir by exploiting the local resources, the people will come on the roads against the authorities.
“The people in Jammu are peace-loving, but they are not going to compromise on their pride of Dogra State. The authoritarian attitude of the authorities needs to be corrected in the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Meanwhile, Saleem Alam also addressed the meetings in Bari the Brahmana, and listed the problems faced by the people.
