Ganderbal, Aug 22: Residents of Rangil and Khalmullah areas in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have expressed strong resentment over the dilapidated condition of the road leading to the revered Baba Daryadin shrine at Nagbal, urging the district administration to ensure immediate macadamisation.Locals said that the stretch from Rangil to Baba Daryadin and from Khalmullah to the shrine has developed numerous potholes, making it difficult for commuters, especially devotees, to travel smoothly. “The road is full of potholes and has not been macadamised. Every day, people including school children and patients suffer due to the rough condition,” said Ghulam Ahmad, a local resident.Another local Mohammad Yousuf, said the condition of the road worsens during rainfall. “When it rains, the road becomes muddy and slippery, causing inconvenience and even accidents. Since the shrine witnesses’ devotees throughout the year, the authorities must prioritize its repair.”The residents appealed to the district administration Ganderbal to take immediate steps. “We request the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and the concerned departments to macadamize the road on both sides—from Rangil and Khalmullah—to the shrine. It is not just a local demand but a necessity for thousands of devotees who visit Baba Daryadin Nagbal,” said a group of locals. Meanwhile, the locals expressed hope that the government will address their grievance at the earliest.
