Folk artists showcase talent at ‘Jashn-e-Kashmir- New Kashmir New Hope’

Kulgam, Nov 12: J&K Folk Artists Association, Shah Qalander Folk Theatre, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, District Administration Kulgam and Municipal Council Kulgam on Saturday organized a mega cultural festival at Mini Stadium, Kulgam.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat was the chief guest and President Municipal Council Kulgam Muneeb Ahmad, DDC members, PRIs besides officers from District civil and police administration also attended the program. Locals from Kulgam and other areas also participated in large numbers and several live performances were presented by the renowned artists.
The main attractions were Kashmiri Chakri, Rouff and Band Pather besides folk dances and music performances. Students of various schools of the district presented performances which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Addressing the audience, the DC highlighted the importance of art and culture of Kashmir. He said that the aim of organizing this program is to promote local art, culture and folk traditions and provide a platform to the artists to showcase their talent.
All J&K Folk Artists Association Chairman, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat expressed gratitude to the district administration for supporting them to organize the show in the district. He said the present government is keen to support the artists of J&K and various initiatives have been taken by the LG administration in this regard.
