Samba, Aug 18: Lok Janshakti Party ( R ) J&KUT President Rafiq Malik has geared up political activities in the Jammu region with a series of public meetings.
Addressing media persons here, Malik said, “We are holding regular public meetings at various places across Jammu region to educate people about the policy and programs of the party that would come into force if it forms the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.”
On the occasion, he announced the names of contesting candidates which include Shahbaz Malik, State Youth President JKUT from Jammu East constituency, Sidhant Bali from Jammu West, Inderjeet, District President Samba from Vijaypur constituency, Iqpal Singh, State Youth Vice-President from R.S Pura Jammu-South Constituency, Rajinder Verma from Marh constituency, Ravinder Manhas from Samba constituency, Puran Chand Malhotra, State Secretary JKUT from Nagrota constituency, Sanju Bhagat, State Secretary JKUT from Ram Nagar constituency. Mohsin Imtiyaz, District President Doda from Bhaderwah constituency, Mahraj Krishan Bhat, State President Migrant Cell JKUT from Habakadal constituency, Ashik Hussain Ganie from Baramulla constituency.
The LJP (R) leader said, “The people were in distress and there was a feeling of alienation among the people because the administration was not responding to them nor the issues of public concerns were addressed. The administration has created an atmosphere where what the public says has no value and it violates the basic democratic values of the country. Therefore, the elections in Jammu and Kashmir were important to elect a government of the choice of the people.”
Malik said the people have lost their faith in the traditional parties for their “hollow slogans” and “divisive politics” that have created an atmosphere of misunderstanding in society.
“For the last 70 years, the traditional parties exploited the people on a regional or religious basis and returned to power from time to time, but they hardly ensured equitable development, employment, and protection of resources of the people in their respective areas,” he said.
Malik advocated that Jammu and Kashmir should have a sustainable development with a balance to protect its forests, ecology and wildlife which is facing a major threat from urbanization. He assured the people that if the party comes to power, they will ensure that the people get employment opportunities at the village level and opportunities for the upliftment of their livelihood, healthcare and education system.
