Srinagar, Apr 06: Shab-e-Qadr, the night of decree was observed across Kashmir valley with religious reverence and fervour. On the auspicious occasion devotees in large numbers gathered at Hazratbal shrine Srinagar and other shrines across the valley to participate in nightlong prayers on the eve of Shab e Qadr, the blessed night when the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Congregational nightlong prayers, recitation of Holy Quran, special supplications were held at the shrines ,mosques and other religious places across Kashmir valley on the divine occasion of Laylat ul Qadr.
Devotees in large numbers started gathering at the shrines and mosque to offer Isha prayers and later participated in special nightlong prayers and supplications.
Nightlong prayers were offered at other major shrines of the city also which included, Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Khanqah-e-Mualla (RA) ZiaratDastgeer sahib (RA), Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith, Gawkadal, Asar-e-Sharif, Janab Sahib Soura and Asar-e-Sharif Shehri Kalashpora.
According to official reports, thousands of devotees offered nightlong prayers at these shrines on the eve of Layla Tul Qadr.
On the occasion of the holy night of Qadr, religious clerics and scholars delivered sermons and deliberated upon the religious significance of the Shab e Qadr and the revelation of the holy Quran.
Clerics at different religious gatherings enlightened the devotees on the teachings of Islam and urged people to inculcate the teachings and follow the righteous path set by the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) .
Religious scholars highlighted the religious significance of the Shab e Qadr and teachings of Islam. Sermons were delivered on various aspects of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
Meanwhile, the authorities had ensured proper arrangements such as water supply and electricity, despite heavy traffic jams on roads leading to major shrines. The Traffic Department had made adequate arrangements of parking around Hazratbal Shrine. This year’s observance saw a significant turnout of devotees.
Similar reports of the night-long prayers were reported at shrines and mosques in other towns and districts of the valley.
As per the Islamic beliefs Laylat – ul-Qadr or Shab-e-Qadr is the night when the Holy Quran was first sent down from Heaven to the earth and the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad, (SAW)
Pertinent to mention, Laylat – ul-Qadr is an Arabic term that means “The Night of Power ” or “The Night of Decree ”. It is considered one of the most important and sacred nights in Islamic calendar during which Muslims across the globe spend the whole night attending the religious gathering and offering prayers all night till dawn.
Laylat ul Qadr is one of the knights of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan and is believed to be on the odd nights of the last 10 days .
LG Sinha greets people on Shab-e-Qadr eve
Jammu, Apr 06: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his heartiest greetings to the people on Shab-e-Qadr.
In a message, the Lt Governor said: “On the holy occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, I extend my hearty greetings and best wishes to all.
The sacred night symbolizes the spirit of selfless giving, forgiveness, sharing, compassion and divinity. May the almighty accept all our prayers on this blessed night, strengthen our faith and inspire each one of us to follow the path of love and harmony”.
IGP Kashmir assures smooth Shab-e-Qadr observance
Srinagar, Apr 06: In preparations for the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, issued directives to all district SSPs and police officials to ensure not only robust security arrangements but also to facilitate the movement of people for the smooth observation of the blessed night.
With Shab-e-Qadr being a significant night in the Islamic faith, IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi while speaking to KNS emphasized the importance of providing support and assistance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the concluding days of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid celebrations.
Acknowledging the sanctity of the occasion, IGP Vidhi Kumar Birdi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing the message of solidarity and support from the police force during this sacred period.
