Baramulla, Nov 10: In a significant leap forward for medical care in north Kashmir, a 55-year-old male underwent a laparoscopic assisted distal gastrectomy for documented adenocarcinoma of the stomach at AHGMC Baramulla.
The procedure, performed by a skilled medical team led by Dr. H Vaqar and Dr. Mir Mushtaq, with anesthetic support from Dr. Waseem and Dr. Yasir, marked a milestone in advanced onco surgeries at the hospital.
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Dr Parvaiz Masoodi said that the laparoscopic procedure included gastrojejunostomy and jejunojejunostomy, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to employing cutting-edge surgical techniques.
The medical team, supported by Ab Hameed, Mudasir, and Nazir Ahmad, executed the operation successfully.
Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, said that the patient is stable and under observation following the laparoscopic surgery.
He emphasized that such laparoscopic-associated onco surgeries are now routinely performed at AH GMC Baramulla, reflecting the hospital’s dedication to providing advanced medical care.
Dr. Zaffer Kawoosa, a Gastroenterologist, performed the crucial endoscopy at the appropriate time, contributing to the comprehensive approach in the patient’s treatment.
Dr. Ruby Reshi, the Principal of GMC Baramulla, congratulated the medical teams involved, stating, “Hats off to our team of doctors. These advanced surgical procedures have significantly elevated the standards of operating procedures, providing convenience to patients from far-flung areas.”
She emphasized that GMC Baramulla offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art care from diagnosis to treatment and follow-up under one roof, reducing the need for patients to be referred to different centers in the majority of cases.
Dr. Reshi expressed optimism about the hospital’s trajectory, anticipating it to set high standards in tertiary care services with the addition of more advanced techniques, manpower, and infrastructure.
