Srinagar, Aug 04: To facilitate a smooth academic and cultural transition for its new engineering students, the Institute of Technology (IoT), Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir (KU) on Monday organised a Student Induction Programme under the theme ‘Meet the University Administration’ at the Main Campus.A statement issued here said that the event was part of a series of induction initiatives aimed at familiarising first-semester students with the University’s vision, academic ecosystem, institutional values, and support services. Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, in her presidential address, highlighted the significance of such orientation programmes in building a sense of connection and purpose among new entrants. “Holistic learning must go hand-in-hand with personal integrity and social responsibility. The University is committed to creating a nurturing space where students not only grow intellectually but also evolve as mindful citizens,” she said. Dean Academic Affairs KU, Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, reiterated the alignment of the induction programme with the NEP 2020 and said that the academic flexibility, interdisciplinarity, and student-centric learning is important in shaping well-rounded graduates equipped for 21st-century challenges. Dean Research KU, Prof. Mohammad Sultan Bhat, spoke about the research infrastructure available at the University and encouraged students to develop a curious and critical approach towards learning from the very beginning of their academic journey. Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, highlighted the value of consistency, effective communication, and discipline in navigating university life successfully and said that the administration is always accessible to students and committed to supporting their academic aspirations. Earlier, Director, IoT Zakura Campus KU, Prof. Mohammad Tariq Banday, in his welcome address, emphasized the importance of direct interactions between students and the University leadership in helping them understand the broader academic culture. The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Bilal A. Malik, faculty at IoT Zakura Campus KU and coordinator of the event, who also delivered the formal vote of thanks. The event was attended by all newly admitted students of the Zakura Campus along with teaching and administrative staff.
