Srinagar, Aug 27: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Co-Chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the emerging flood-like situation in parts of the Valley following continuous rainfall, urging the administration to remain alert and take preemptive measures to ensure the safety of people and their property.
In a statement issued here, Dar said that the reports of rising water levels in rivers and streams, and waterlogging in several low-lying areas, necessitate immediate and coordinated response from the concerned departments.
“The authorities must stay vigilant. Rescue and relief teams should remain on standby and special attention must be paid to flood-prone and vulnerable areas. The government cannot afford to be complacent at this critical time,” Dar said.He appealed to the local population to exercise caution and cooperate with the administration, particularly in adhering to weather-related advisories and evacuation orders, if issued.Expressing anguish over the loss of lives and property due to flash floods and heavy rains in Jammu region, the KEA Co-Chairman conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved families and extended solidarity with the affected people.“Our thoughts are with the families who have suffered irreparable losses. At this time, it is imperative for all communities to come together and support one another,” he said.Dar also urged the government to undertake immediate relief and rehabilitation measures in both Kashmir and Jammu regions, ensuring that those affected receive timely assistance, including financial aid, medical support, and essential supplies.
