Kangan to get new maternity & child care hospital within 18 days: MLA Mehar Ali

Kangan, Aug 30: The residents of Ganderbal’s Kangan Sub-Division are set to receive a major healthcare boost as the long-pending Maternity-cum-Child Care Hospital (M&CCH) in Kangan is likely to be inaugurated within the next 15 to 18 days.MLA Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, while reviewing the final stages of the project on Saturday, said the hospital will provide much-needed relief to expecting mothers and newborns who earlier had to travel long distances to Srinagar for specialised care.”Work on the Maternity-cum-Child Care Hospital has been completed, and within the next 15 to 18 days, it will be inaugurated,” he said. “Once functional, maternity patients will get the much-needed relief here at their doorstep.”The MLA was accompanied by Director Health Services Kashmir, CMO Ganderbal, BMO and MS SDH Kangan, along with other health officials. The team inspected the newly completed hospital infrastructure and also reviewed the ongoing healthcare facilities at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan.Mehar Ali reiterated his commitment to strengthening health infrastructure in the region. “I had earlier assured the public that improved healthcare and other vital infrastructure would be made available so that people don’t face unnecessary difficulties. This hospital is one step toward that promise,” he said.Asked about staff shortages in hospitals across Sub-Division Kangan, the MLA said all such problems will be resolved. “We are working closely with the Health Department to ensure adequate staffing and smooth functioning of healthcare institutions,” he said.Meanwhile, locals expressed gratitude to the MLA and health authorities for completing the long-awaited project.This Maternity-cum-Child Care Hospital will ease the huge problems faced by expectant mothers. “Until now, patients were forced to travel long distances to Srinagar’s Lal Ded or SKIMS Soura, which was both risky and costly. Now, this facility will be a lifeline for us,” said a local.
