Srinagar, Nov 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday raided multiple locations across Kashmir pertaining to online threat letters to valley-based journalists and publications.
A police spokesman said special teams of Srinagar Police supervised by SP South City Srinagar Lakshya Sharma-IPS conducted simultaneous searches at various locations across the valley including the houses of fugitives, active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT (TRF), and other suspects in Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama districts.
“The premises which were raided and searched belong to Showkat Mota in Srinagar, KhaksarNadeeb Adnan in Srinagar, Haji Hayat in Pampore, Haji Hayat’s Office in Srinagar, IshfaqReshi in Budgam, Asif Dar (based abroad) and Saqib Magloo in Srinagar,” he said.
The spokesman said during the search, all the legal formalities were followed professionally and incriminating articles were recovered and seized.
He said the investigation in the instant case is going on vigorously and the general public is requested to cooperate to bring any information relevant to this case in the notice of Srinagar Police.
On November 19, police conducted raids at 12 locations across the valley including many areas of Srinagar, Kulgam and Anantnag districts.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that they conducted raids across multiple locations in Valley. Digital devices and other things are being seized. The investigation is going in full swing and we are expecting more raids, and arrests in the case, he said.
On Wednesday, Director General of Police (DPG), Dilbag Singh said “Kashmir fight blog runs from Pakistan. The people of Kashmir have seen this game of death at the behest of ISI for more than 30 years. Those sitting in Pakistan who cannot see the peace of the people of Kashmir, this blog belongs to them, he said.
“Media people do not forward the agenda of Pakistan, so they have also become their enemies. Today the people of Kashmir love peace and progress, that’s why threats are being given. Strict action will be taken against those behind it,” DGP said. Adding that police was keenly monitoring their activities.
Earlier following the online threats, a case vide FIR No. 82/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Sherghari against terror handlers, active terrorists and terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT and its offshoot TRF for online publication & dissemination of direct threat letters to Journalists and reporters based in Kashmir.
