Srinagar, June 13: JLNM Hospital has achieved another significant milestone in patient care and medical excellence. In a groundbreaking achievement, a team of dedicated doctors successfully completed a Graded Drug Challenge for Oral Iron in a 24-year-old female patient suffering from Iron Deficiency Anemia and Multiple Drug Allergy Syndrome.
This complex procedure was led by Dr. Taha Ashraf and Dr. M. Naveed, with the support of Dr. Shahzada and Dr. Arifa, the Heads of Medicine and Anesthesiology respectively. The full support of the administration, under the leadership of Medical Superintendent Dr. Tajammul Hussain, was instrumental in this success.
The patient, previously labeled as allergic to iron salts, has now been declared free from this allergy, marking a significant improvement in her treatment options. In a related procedure, another patient with multiple drug allergies, who required clearance for anesthetic drugs prior to a scheduled hysterectomy at DH Ganderbal, was also successfully de-labeled and cleared for the use of these drugs. The hysterectomy is scheduled for tomorrow.
Dr. Tajammul Hussain, Medical Superintendent of JLNM Hospital, expressed satisfaction on this achievement, stating, “Such specialized procedures are crucial in managing drug allergies. It is a proud moment that JLNM Hospital is now the sole secondary care facility in the country offering this service regularly, saving patients from hefty expenses at corporate hospitals elsewhere.”
The successful completion of these procedures has been earning laurels from the entire medical fraternity, who commended the team for their remarkable work at a secondary care hospital. This milestone not only highlights the advanced capabilities of JLNM Hospital but also sets a precedent for future contributions to the healthcare sector.
