JKSPYM sensitizes anganwadi workers on drug abuse prevention

Jammu, Dec 17: JKSPYM State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCAJ&K) under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), organized a one-day awareness program on “Drug Abuse Prevention” for anganwadi workers of district Udhampur. The resource persons were from the JKSPYM organization.
The awareness program started with the introduction of the JKSPYM organization and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan followed by the working of the State Level Coordinating Agency by Ms. Kimi Padhiar, the SLCA official. The session started with “Introduction of psychoactive substances”. The resource person discussed drugs, drug addiction, causes and types of drugs through PowerPoint Presentation. The second resource person educated the participants about different psychoactive substances, their withdrawal symptoms and their effects on the body, mind, career and family. The resource person also discussed preventive measures and treatment followed by the role of anganwadi workers.
The awareness program concluded with a question-answer session and discussions. The resource persons patiently answered all the queries raised by anganwadi workers. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Deepak Bhati, an SLCA official. In the end, handouts and IEC material were provided to the participants.
