Srinagar, Sept 07: A total of 14,500 candidates appeared for the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) 2024–2025 held across 55 examination centres in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Sunday.
The examination was conducted by the State Eligibility Test (SET) Agency at the University of Jammu, with 41 centres established across both UTs.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Professor Pankaj K. Srivastava, Member Secretary (JKSET/LASET) from the University of Jammu, confirmed that the test was conducted smoothly across the designated centres. “The examination centres in Jammu division were set up in Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Bhaderwah. In Kashmir division, centres were established in Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag,” he said. In Ladakh, the SET was also held in Leh and Kargil.
Professor Srivastava added that all necessary arrangements were made at the centres, with special provisions for candidates affected by weather-related road blockades.
“Special centres were established in districts to accommodate candidates unable to reach their original centres. These candidates were allowed to appear at nearby locations after due approval from the JKSET Agency,” he said.
In these special centres, 34 candidates appeared in Jammu, 36 in Bhaderwah, and 34 in Srinagar.
Meanwhile, University of Jammu Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the examination. He commended the coordinated efforts of staff and the discipline maintained by candidates.
Senior university officials including the Dean Research Studies, Dean Planning & Development, Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Finance Officer, and Controller of Examinations conducted inspection visits at various centres.
In Srinagar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Prof. Nilofer Khan, also visited examination centres to oversee arrangements.
