“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Cluster University Jammu and Desh Bhagat University Punjab for this significant initiative, and my best wishes to the companies participating and the candidates selected,” LG Sinha said.
He underscored the fair’s role in bridging the gap between education and employment, empowering young individuals to launch their careers and contribute meaningfully to Viksit Jammu Kashmir and Viksit Bharat.
Highlighting reforms in education and industry led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG said the government’s top priorities include job creation, entrepreneurship, and improving employability through academic transformation.
“Our industrial initiatives since 2021 have opened direct channels between employers and young job seekers. The participation of local private companies today reflects the growth of industrialisation, trade, and business in J&K,” he said.
He added that the operationalisation of new industries has enhanced awareness among youth about diverse roles suited to their skills. “The strong response from the private sector to recruit local talent is a promising sign for our economy,” he said.
The LG outlined the impact of the Union Territory’s progressive industrial policy, noting that projects worth ₹10,000 crore have already been completed and gone into production, while another ₹15,000 crore worth are in various stages of implementation. Investment proposals worth ₹25,000 crore are underway, and an additional ₹60,000 crore in proposals are pending decisions.
“Industries have availed ₹28,400 crore in incentives under the New Industrial Development Scheme in just two and a half years,” he noted.
LG Sinha attributed the rise in entrepreneurship and employment in J&K to collaborative efforts across departments and stakeholders. He praised the implementation of schemes such as PMEGP, REGP, Hausla, Tejaswini, Mumkin, and Mission Youth for empowering the region’s youth.
During his interaction with company representatives, he reiterated the administration’s focus on local employment under the new industrial policy. “Atomic North Pvt Ltd has established a BPO in a village in Kathua, employing 375 youth, with plans to scale up to 1,000.
