Jammu, June 24: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday addressed the Mega Job Fair 2025 organised by Cluster University of Jammu in collaboration with Desh Bhagat University, Punjab, at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the initiative for bringing together a broad spectrum of reputed national companies to provide employment opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Cluster University Jammu and Desh Bhagat University Punjab for this significant initiative, and my best wishes to the companies participating and the candidates selected,” LG Sinha said.
He underscored the fair’s role in bridging the gap between education and employment, empowering young individuals to launch their careers and contribute meaningfully to Viksit Jammu Kashmir and Viksit Bharat.
Highlighting reforms in education and industry led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG said the government’s top priorities include job creation, entrepreneurship, and improving employability through academic transformation.
“Our industrial initiatives since 2021 have opened direct channels between employers and young job seekers. The participation of local private companies today reflects the growth of industrialisation, trade, and business in J&K,” he said.
He added that the operationalisation of new industries has enhanced awareness among youth about diverse roles suited to their skills. “The strong response from the private sector to recruit local talent is a promising sign for our economy,” he said.
The LG outlined the impact of the Union Territory’s progressive industrial policy, noting that projects worth ₹10,000 crore have already been completed and gone into production, while another ₹15,000 crore worth are in various stages of implementation. Investment proposals worth ₹25,000 crore are underway, and an additional ₹60,000 crore in proposals are pending decisions.
“Industries have availed ₹28,400 crore in incentives under the New Industrial Development Scheme in just two and a half years,” he noted.
LG Sinha attributed the rise in entrepreneurship and employment in J&K to collaborative efforts across departments and stakeholders. He praised the implementation of schemes such as PMEGP, REGP, Hausla, Tejaswini, Mumkin, and Mission Youth for empowering the region’s youth.
During his interaction with company representatives, he reiterated the administration’s focus on local employment under the new industrial policy. “Atomic North Pvt Ltd has established a BPO in a village in Kathua, employing 375 youth, with plans to scale up to 1,000. I’ve urged them to open a unit in Udhampur as well. Similarly, JSW Group is setting up a BPO in Jammu,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor distributed job offer letters to selected candidates and formally handed over AICTE approval for BBA and BCA courses to Cluster University.
The Mega Job Fair 2025 saw participation from 57 reputed companies and registration of 3,759 candidates. The event marked a significant step in boosting employment and economic inclusion in the Union Territory.
The event was attended by Prof. K.S. Chandraseker, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu; Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University, Punjab; Dr. Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of GCW Gandhi Nagar; senior faculty, corporate delegates, students, and citizens from across the region.
