Srinagar, Dec 26: Aam Aadmi Party’s general secretary of Kupwara district, Fayaz Karnahi on Monday said that the healthcare system of Jammu and Kashmir needs urgent augmentation as the system is ailing owing to numerous shortcomings.
In a presser, General Secretary of AAP from Kupwara, Fayaz Karnahi said that healthcare sector is one of the pivotal sectors in Jammu and Kashmir as of any other society but poor state of this important sector is an unfortunate aspect that needs to be looked at in a concerned mode.
“Healthcare sector of Jammu and Kashmir is not in good condition and is itself ailing with vacant posts of doctors as well as other officers of administrative level show poor state of affairs but government is not paying concern towards it.” said Fayaz.
He said all the areas of Jammu and Kashmir are having one or other issue of healthcare sector with lack of doctors and lack of proper infrastructure in health Institutions affecting the life of every citizen.
He gave a reference of Primary Health Centre Drugmulla in Kupwara district and said that this healthcare institution caters needs of dozens of villages and thousands of people but lack of basic infrastructure in it creates problems for masses and a common man hardly finds proper healthcare facilities in the centre.
Karnahi also gave reference to a number of media reports in which doctors conducted surgical procedures under torch light like in Drugmulla but the health department has failed to address the issue.
The AAp leader while calling for an audit of healthcare services in all primary healthcare units of Jammu and Kashmir said that the Government should pay proper concern towards it so that people living in rural areas can get proper healthcare services in their PHCs.
He also mentioned vacant posts of doctors and administrative officers in healthcare units and said that augmentation of healthcare as a sector is a dire need of the hour.
