Jammu, May 2: In a step towards strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Friday organised an Entrepreneurship and Startup Orientation Programme in collaboration with the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET). The programme was aimed at sensitising the participating students about the opportunities and support mechanisms available under the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27.
The programme majorly focused on educating the students regarding the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in shaping the career. Around 40 students participated in the orientation programme, held at JKEDI Bari Brahamana campus. The orientation program included interactive sessions on startup ideation, business plan modeling, and the support of the government under the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27. Experts from JKEDI provided valuable insights into the various schemes and incentives available for budding entrepreneurs. Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Jahangir, Director JKEDI, emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship and startup awareness programmes in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among youth. He stressed that these programs shall help the students to think innovatively, understand the basics of entrepreneurship, and explore the path of becoming job creators rather than job seekers. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students and faculty members along with other officials of the institute. This initiative is a part of JKEDI’s broader efforts to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, contributing to the economic development of the region by creating new opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
