Jammu, Dec 23: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) proudly participated in the two-day Jammu Mahotsav, organized by the Ladakh Jammu Kashmir Economic Growth and Development Dialogue (LEAD) at GGS Science College, Jammu on Monday.
The university effectively showcased its academic and extracurricular achievements at a specialised Stall, attracting a large number of visitors. Visitors were provided with detailed information about the university and various programs, including its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral offerings, along with insights into the admission procedures. Faculty and scholars at the stall highlighted the university its achievements and its proactive efforts in fostering holistic development through academic excellence and societal outreach.
The stall garnered significant attention for SMVDU’s community development initiatives, such as Vikalp, a program where university students teach underprivileged children. Additionally, the active contributions of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) were showcased, highlighting their impact on both the university and the surrounding community. NSS at SMVDU actively engages in community service through initiatives like cleanliness drives, health camps, and skill development programs, while NCC fosters discipline, leadership, and patriotism through drills, camps, and awareness campaigns. The Technology Business Incubation Center (TBIC), the university and incubator for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, was another major highlight of the stall.
SMVDU was represented by faculty members, namely Prof. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Dean, Faculty of Management, Dr. Varun Dutta (NCC Coordinator), Dr. Rajiv Kumar (NSS Coordinator), Dr. Pabitra Kumar Jena, Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Kirti, alongside dedicated PhD scholars Kalpana, Manish, Neha Gupta, and Vikas. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, commended the efforts of the university team and extended his best wishes to the organizers of LEAD and Jammu Mahotsav for their initiative in promoting regional growth and collaboration.
