J&K to Host Senior Kabaddi Championship in Poonch

Jammu, Feb 5: The 22nd Senior UT Kabaddi Championship for both Men and Women is scheduled to take place from February 7 to 9 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Mendhar, Poonch. Organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association and under the auspices of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the event will feature teams from affiliated districts and Belt Forces.
Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association, along with Surinder Mohan, Technical Director of Yuva Kabaddi Series J&K and Ladakh, has left for Poonch to assess the facilities for the Championship. The officials will evaluate accommodation standards, ground fields with mats, the mess hall, and the food services provided by the hosting Poonch District Kabaddi Association. The Championship will allow participation from all affiliated district Kabaddi teams, as well as Belt Forces teams, in both the Men’s and Women’s sections. Each team will comprise 10 players, one coach, and one manager. District Presidents, Secretaries, and Department Incharges have been advised to select their teams based on merit before participation. The final date for team entries is set for February 6, 12:00 midnight.
Additionally, the selection for the Senior National Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi teams will take place during the Championship. A coaching camp for the Men’s team probable’s will also be held from 10th February 2025 in Mendhar, Poonch. All district players are required to bring their Aadhar card, a photograph, a domicile certificate, and a medical fitness certificate from a medical officer. Belt Forces players must bring their Aadhar card, a photograph, a letter from their commanding officer, and a medical fitness certificate. Furthermore, all players must be duly registered with the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.
