Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday issued instructions for the grand celebrations of “Samvidhan Diwas” (Constitution Day) tomorrow (November 26).
The Constitution Day, also known as “Samvidhan Divas” is celebrated every year on November 26 to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from January 26, 1950.
The main official event, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, will feature a Preamble reading ceremony at SKICC, Srinagar, at 12:15 p.m.
“Considering the significance of the completion of 75 years of adoption of the constitution, it has been decided to celebrate the event with great fervour and enthusiasm to reiterate the core values enshrined in the constitution of India and motivate citizens to take their rightful role in the campaign tagline This year holds special significance as it commemorates 75 years of the “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan,” the government said.
All government offices, autonomous bodies, PSUs, and educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir will hold similar ceremonies.
In rural areas, the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj will facilitate mass Preamble readings at Panchayats and Amrit Sarovar sites.
The General Administration Department (GAD) has directed all divisional commissioners, department heads, deputy commissioners, and PSU managing directors to ensure the successful organization of these ceremonies across their respective locations.
According to the official statement, the 75th Year of the adoption of the Constitution of India, be emphasized for the ensuing Republic Day celebrations across different parts of the state on January 26, 2025.
J&K government has decided to organize Gram Sabhas in Gram Panchayats wherein the fundamental duties of citizens under Article 51A of the Constitution will be read out and explained. Surviving freedom fighters to be felicitated, the statement added.
“Special celebrations in villages connected to Members of the Constituent Assembly with emphasis on contribution of women members of the Constituent Assembly.”
